Old School Surgery is a Partnership Practice open to all patients living within our Practice boundary in Chartham, Chilham, Old Wives Lees and surrounding areas (please see our website for details on www.oldschoolsurgerykent.nhs.net). We work in partnership with our patients, staff and Patient Participation Group (PPG) to provide medical care for our patients. We work under the General Medical Services (GMS) contract to provide primary care services for the diagnosis, management and prevention of disease and illnesses. Our GPs and staff act as patient advocates, supporting and representing their best interests to ensure they receive the best and most appropriate health and/or social care. We liaise and work with other health services and healthcare colleagues both in the community and in secondary care as appropriate to ensure the best care and continuity for our patients.

Old School Surgery is a Partnership with two partners, and a salaried GP:

Mrs Katie Kinnersley (RGN, SCM) – Partner / Practice Manager/Practice Nurse
Dr Caroline Brown (MBBS, BSc, DCCH, Dip Occ. Med) – Salaried GP

- To provide the best possible quality service for our patients within a confidential and safe environment through effective collaboration and teamwork.

- To ensure that all members of the staff team have the right skills, motivation and training to carry out their duties competently and safely, and they have the opportunity to discuss and learn from problems or issues that might arise at any time, so that we continually improve the service we offer to our patients.
- To take care of our staff offering them support to do their jobs in a safe and friendly environment and to protect them against abuse. We take a zero tolerance towards all forms of abuse.
- To provide safe, friendly and effective primary care health services in a responsive way; meeting the needs of our patient population.
- To provide continuity of care wherever possible through personal continuity; but also through up to date, concise medical record continuity; and following guidelines based on best evidence, national and local policy.

Essential Services:
These are for people with health conditions from which they are expctged to recover, chronic disease management and general management of terminally ill patients and include;
- Chronic Obstructive airways disease clinics
- Coronary heart disease clinics
Additional Services:
Our additional services include:
- Cervical cytology screening
- Child Health Surveillance
- Vaccinations and immunisations
- Certain minor surgery procedures
- Childhood vaccinations and immunisations
Enhanced Services:
Our enhanced services include:
- Contraceptive coil fittings & removals (IUS & IUD)
- Contraceptive implant fitting & removal.
- IUS Fittings for treatment of menorrhagia
- Minor surgery, excisions, incisions and injections to joints.
- INR monitoring for warfarin users
- ECGs ( 12 lead electrical heart tracing) and interpretation
Other Services:
Our Practice also offers services including;
- Child health & development
- Earwax and irrigation clinics
- Lung testing (Spirometry)
- Prostate cancer injection therapy
- Pregnancy testing, morning after pill and contraceptive advice.
- Stop smoking advice and support.
Non NHS Services:
Our Practice also provides services which are non NHS and are paid for by the patient. These services include;
- Pre-employment and HGV medicals
- Prescription for taking medication abroad.
